'Sivaji' beats Hollywood films in UK for collections? |
|
This is the first time in UK that an Indian film had greater response than Hollywood any films. It was none other than
Rajni's 'Sivaji' which was released on 15th June.
Special shows were arranged the day before the release. The collections
were 37,016 Pounds. On Friday, the day of release, the collection was
33,973 Pounds. It increased to 53,146 Pounds on Saturday. The Sunday's
collection was 43,472 Pounds. Of the 12 shows, 'Sivaji' had a
collection of 167,607 Pounds, an average of 14,050 Pounds.
Is it a
record? But how? 'Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer' was
leading the U.K. Top Ten movies this week. Its average collection per
show is only 8,709 Pounds. Hollywood's blockbuster film 'Pirates of the
Caribbean: At world's End' had an average collection of 3,523 Pounds.
Another blockbuster 'Oceans Thirteen' featuring George Cloony, Brad Pit
and Al Pachino collected 4,531 Pounds on an average. In the sixth
place, Amitabh Bachchan's 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom' had a collection of
5,675 Pounds. Beating all of them 'Sivaji' had an average collection of
14,050 Pounds. 'Sivaji' is the first film to beat Hollywood films. In
12 shows, it had a collection of Rs.1.36 crore. But in 47 shows,
Amitabh Bachchan's film could collect only Rs.2.31 crore! The U.K. Top
Ten has unmistakably answered who the Boss is among Rajini and Amitabh
Bachchan!
