| UBS opens Rs 210-crore service centre in Hyderabad |

July 4: UBS, one of the world’s largest financial service company, inaugurated
its first India Service Centre (ISC) on Wednesday with an investment of $50
million (Rs 210 crores) and a seating capacity of 1,700. The company, which has acquired Standard Chartered Mutual Fund, is also looking for a massive expansion in mutual funds and asset management. Inaugurating the new centre, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy said, "Andhra Pradesh has great potential and the UBS iniative will help to groom talent. The government will offer every possible support to the company." The service centre offers a broad array of services in knowledge processes (KPO), business processes (BPO), IT infrastructure and development and utilities. UBS has also started its second project in Hi-Tech City here with an investment of $65 million and is expected to be completed by 2008. It will accomodate 750 professionals. UBS India chief executive Vipul Khanna said, "We are recruting new candidates and training them to build careers in financial services in India. Because of our global presence, they will be able to foray into the global financial services." "UBS is also focusing on global wealth management and business banking along with global asset management," he said. UBS has more than 80,000 employees in 50 countries and has a market capitilisation of $2.55 billion.
