Movie Review - Satyabhama
Intro of Film: This film story is a remaking of Hollywood’s romantic comedy “50 First Dates”, starring Adam Sandler and Henry Roth. Some of the scenes and dialogues are borrowed (translated) from original flick. Story: Coming to the story, Krishna (Sivaji) is a sand sculptor in Goa. He meets Satyabhama (Bhumika Chawla), a tourist at a coffee shop and falls in love with her at the first sight. They become friendly in no time. But, when he meets her again the next day, she treats him as a stranger, she starts yelling at him "Who the hell are you? Get last!", confused Krishna finds that Satya is the victim of “short memory loss beyond limits”, a rare brain-related disorder and her short term memory gets refreshed every day. She remembers only things that happened prior to 22 August, 2006 when she met with an accident. The rest of the story is all about how Krishna makes Satyabhama fall in love with him again and again on daily basis. Artistes Performance: Sivaji, fresh from series of non-performers these days, looks different in this film. There is lot of calmness in his characterization, but the dialogues didn’t cooperate him much to make a big mark. Bhumika Chawla as Satyabhama had done justice to her roll. Her performance as the victim of “Short memory loss beyond limits” is without flaw all through the movie in all wings of acting. New director Sreehari Nanu directional skills are ok but not extraordinary in this film. Analysis: Satyabhama is romantic entertainer. This film strory is in line with ‘Ghajini’ and ‘Nandanavanam 120 Km’ which dealt with the topics of ‘memory loss disease’. If there could have been more mass appeal, the film could have had more chance to run in B & C centers but still have all the elements for A-center audiences. This film may offer some variety for those people who have not watched english film '50 First Dates' yet. FC Verdict : This film is not advised for the mass audience. It may attract Class segment audiences. |
