Upendra in the prime role with negative shades and romantic stuff Raja in a mass getup. Director Priyadharsini Ram thought these two different characters would make a wholesome entertainment. Toss does not have much to do with its title. Upendra’s action and some glamour quotient of Priyamani are a saving grace. Mani Sharma’s music rocks on the screen more than its audio. Story Parasuram (Raja) is working undercover for the police commissioner Nayak (Suman) to nab notorious Neelakantha (Upendra), Neelakanta (Upendra) is an anti-social element who is very fond of his blind sister Naina (Priyamani). They share a dark past. Nayak (Suman), the local police chief appoints Parsuram as undercover cop to recover 10 crore money stolen by Neelakanta. Parsuram (Raja) gets hold of Neelakanta's blind sister and makes her fall in love with him. The rest of the story is all about the conflict between Parsuram and Neelakanta. Performances Raja changed his look. He is like a macho man with strong biceps and heavily built chest. His role is totally a mass one. Upendra’s role is typical brother who cares for his sister. He is given a wild appeal and more graphics are used on him to bring depth. Priyamani is sensuous with saris in a song but in rest of the film she is with her blindness. Kamna has shown enough of her curvy assets and tried to imitate Urmila in Rangeela. Ramya’s rough-lady role with sexposure is for glamour quotient. Suman did the villainy without giving scope to the audience to have a guess till the climax. Krishna Bhagwan did the corrupt cop. Abhinaya Shri’s appears in comedy sequences, but she fails to have any impression on the audience. Venu Madhav holds little footage and the inadequacy disappoints. TV anchor Harshavardhan makes a cameo in the beginning and the episode is nice. Technical Details Direction: The story has some creativity. But, Priyadharshini Ram confused things by making the screenplay too tight. This has resulted in creating boredom among the audience. Upendra’s characterization is a major strength to the film. Under his captaincy, the movie just treads the path of a melodrama, or says a stage performance. Cinematography is good. A high-quality cam is said to have been used for this film. Stunts sequences are shot in dim and dip mode, making your eyes get tired. Two songs are really nice. A song on Raja and Priyamani in the second half is a treat to the eyes with superb backdrop of ocean and mountains. FC Verdict Toss disappoints the audience after making much publicity. The lone strength of the film is Upendra. It is just Time-pass film |
