 July 25: One of the directors of Obulapuram Mining Company and promoters of the proposed Brahmani Steel Company, G. Janardhana Reddy, filed two defamation petitions against TDP leaders and publishers of two regional language newspapers in the Junior Civil Judge Court at Rayadurg in the district on Tuesday.After arriving in the town from Bellary along with his lawyers, Mr. Reddy straight away went to the police station and had a closed-door meeting with Circle Inspector M. Padmakar Reddy. After about half-an-hour’s chat with the police officer, Mr. Reddy headed to the court and filed the petitions before Judge Srinivasulu. Defamation petitions He filed the defamation petitions under Sections 500 and 501 of the IPC, one against TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu and publishers of two newspapers, Ch. Ramoji Rao and V. Radhakrishna, for using defamatory remarks against him by Mr. Naidu after he was invited by Mr. Reddy to visit his mines and for publishing those remarks. Another petition was filed against TDP MP M.V. Mysoora Reddy and publishers Ch. Ramoji Rao and V. Radhakrishna for the former’s continuous defamatory remarks made against Mr. Reddy between May 3 and 23 and for publishing those remarks.             |
