Movie Review - Shankar Dada Zindabad
Story Shankardada (Chiranjeevi), professional life is going great and his 'dadagiri' business is flourishing. However now he wants to concentrate on his personal life. Shankardada is smitten with Jahnavi’s (Karishma Kotak) voice, every morning he wakes up to her beautiful voice saying ‘Good Morning Hyderabad’ on the radio. But now Shankardada wants to meet Jahnavi and he gets the opportunity when Jahnavi hosts a contest. All Shankardada has to do is answer all questions and then he will get the opportunity to meet the love of his life. The topic of the quiz is on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. ATM (Srikanth), who is always ready with advice or help for Shankardada, gets a few history professors to help Shankardada answer the questions correctly. Well with the help of ATM and the history professors, Shankardada wins the contest and is now on his way to the studio to meet Jhanvi. He meets Jhanvi and she is everything that he wants in a woman, Jahnavi too finds Shankardada interesting. But there is one glitch, Shankardada lies to Jhanvi that he is a history professor. Jahnavi’s grandfather runs an old age home for his friends as most of their families have abandoned them. Jahnavi’s life revolves around these old men and the old age home called ‘second innings home’. Jhanvi asks Shankardada to deliver a lecture on the ‘Great Mahatma’ to her grandpa and his friends at the aged home. Shankardada can’t refuse anything that the sweet Jahnavi asks of him and so he agrees to give a speech on Gandhiji. Now begins Shankardada’s problems, he is after all a local goon and has substantial information on breaking bones and beating up people but none whatsoever on Gandhiji. He consults his friend and adviser ATM who in turn puts forth many suggestions but none that will work. Unfortunately now Shankardada is faced with only one choice and that is to read as much as he can on Gandhiji before delivering the speech. So he does just that and while he is reading books on Gandhiji day and night, an interesting event takes place. Shankardada actually comes face to face with the Mahatma. Shankardada the local goon now meets the man of ideals, principles and extremely high morals, what happens when these two meet forms the crux of the story. How does Shankardada change and adopt the age-old teachings of the Mahatma and use them in his daily life situations. Artists Performance  Chiranjeevi given excellent performance as Shankardada in this sequel movie. Though 50+, His dance movements are pretty good. He performed really well on comedy scenes in first half with impeccable timing and ease.Karishma Kotak is a big minus point to the film. She looks ok but does not have screen presence or acting skills. Sada gives appreciable performance. Srikanth looks matured when compared to his ATM role in Shankar Dada MBBS. Sayaji Shinde done well as villain. Dilip Prabhawalkar as Gandhi is adequate. Pawan Kalyan enters the film during climax as the bridegroom and his dialogue refers to his relationship with Chiranjeevi in his real life. Technical Departments: This film is a remake of Hindi film Lage Raho Munnabhai. Most of the film is adapted in Telugu as it is. The director Prabhudeva added a couple of fights and an item song to please the masses and nothing more to it. We can not compare SDZ with original Lage Raho Munnabhai (LRMB). The audience can easily notice the flavor of the original LRMB. Prabhudeva did not show his creativity and totally remained loyal to LRMB. Devi Sri Prasad scored a good music. Cinematography Chota K Naidu is just okay. Dialogues by Parachoori Brothers are weak compare to original LRMB. FC Verdict: For those who have seen the original, it is a big disappiontment. It is a ok to watch for anyone who has not watched the original. It has a message that suits for the image of Chiranjeevi but lacks the entertainment one expects from Chiranjeevi's film.             |
