Light rail proposal to Tirumala E-mail
The TTD Trust Board resolved on Wednesday to request the Centre to conduct a survey for laying a new railway line from Renigunta to Tirumala to run a ‘light train’ by RITES, a Central Government organisation.

According to TTD chairman B Karunakar Reddy, the board decided to seek a feasibility report on the proposed ‘light rail’ project to Tirumala which is at a height of 1,800 ft from the mean sea level (MSL).

Briefing newsmen on the decisions of the trust board here on Wednesday, he said that in view of security reasons the TTD decided to construct a security zone at Alipiri on the lines of the international airport entrance security point at New Delhi.

The board also allotted 157 acres of TTD land as house-sites to its employees at three different places – near SV Dairy Farm, Brahmana Pattu and Vinayaka Nagar – at nominal rates.

The board allotted Rs 4 crore to construct hostel buildings for both the boys and girls for nursing students at SVIMS Hospital.

A three-member committee was also appointed to go into the functioning of TTD-funded hospitals. The board appointed Vijaya Raghavachari from AP Residential School as secretary to Dharma Prachara Parishad.

As a token of honour to and recognition of Veturi Prabhakara Sastri’s outstanding contribution in bringing Annamayya works to limelight, the board resolved to publish his works.
