| Three IIITs in state by next July |

The state government has decided to start three new International Instititutes of Information Technology from 2008. The chief minister YS Rajashekar Reddy disclosed this to the media in Hyderabad on Saturday. The three new IIITs will come at Basar in Adilabad district, Idupulapaya in Kadapa and Nuzvid in Krishna district respectively. The new institutes will start functioning from 2008. The work on IIT at Medak is also expected to commence classes from the year 2008. Participating in the sixth convocation of the decade-old IIIT at Gachi Bowli here on Saturday, Dr. Reddy said the Government would extend all support to the institution. It was established to create a mark for itself as a top university in the country. The Government would extend all support to enable it to emerge the most prestigious research institute of the world. It was also committed to bringing a qualitative change in the human resource pool, he added. Satyam Computers Chairman B. Ramalinga Raju, who delivered the convocation address, advised students to develop a positive attitude. They should get into the habit of asking a lot of questions and provide for themselves sufficient time to develop leadership qualities. IIIT Chairman Raj Reddy said former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam agreed to become a visiting faculty member of the institute. He would spend one week every year here interacting with the students and regular faculty. Director Ajit Sangal said the institute was rated among the top ten technology schools in the country again this year by Dataquest magazine. |
