The Land Reforms Tribunal of Ranga Reddy district will serve notices
“anytime now” on the Ramoji and Sanghi groups of companies for recovery
of their lands in Hayathnagar mandal near the city found in excess of
the permitted extents under the AP Land Reforms (Ceiling on Agriculture
Holdings) Act.
The Tribunal authorities handed over a copy of the final order to
the advocate representing the Sanghi group of companies on Saturday as
a prelude to revenue officials initiating action to recover the lands.
The two can file their appeal petition before the appellate tribunal
within 15 days of receiving the orders.
The Tribunal issued notice few days back to Ramoji group that it
posses 1,363 acres of excess lands. The Sanghi Group owned by Congress MP Girish Sanghi, and his brothers, runs the Telugu daily Vaartha and holds 2,770 acres of land in and around Hayathnagar in Ranga Reddy district of which 1,913 acres has now been held as excess. The Sanghi group is understood to have made a plea to the Government to treat their excess land as “special economic zone” and grant an exemption from the Andhra Pradesh Land Reforms (Ceiling on Agriculture Holdings) Act. It pleaded that textile and other industries would be developed on the excess land if the exemption was granted. |
