Politics:Congress party blames KCR E-mail

Congress party on Tuesday blamed Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao for backing out on seat adjustments in the Council elections.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary and in charge of party affairs in the State Digvijay Singh clarified that it was Chandrasekhar Rao who backed out after seeking two seats.

Digvijay Singh said that he personally spoke to Chandrasekhar Rao and trusted him. He said, " I spoke to Chandrasekhar Rao. He asked two seats. We offered two seats. He went back".

Digvijay Singh said that the Congress party would field its candidates in Karimnagar and Medak seats. To a query, Digvijay Singh replied that the TRS is pre-poll ally and continue to have seat adjustments with it.

In response another question, He said that Congress party considers TRS is still its ally. " TRS did not join NDA", he added.

Referring to refusal of party ticket by senior leader Palvai Goverdhan Reddy, Digvijay Singh said that Goverdhan Reddy did not refused the ticket. He said that Goverdhan Reddy wanted a change in the constituency and it would be considered on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Union Minister for Rural Development and member of the UPA sub-committee on Telangana Dr Raghuvansh Prasad Singh reiterated that there was no consensus on separate Telangana issue. He said that the efforts are still on to achieve consensus on the issue among the political parties in Parliament.

Raghuvansh Prasad opined that the TRS should have continued in UPA to realize its goal instead of walking out into isolation. He said that the leaders of UPA partners Sharad Pawar, Lalu Prasad advised Chandrasekhar Rao to continue in UPA.

Maintaining that the separate Telangana State can be carved out only through constitutional amendment in Parliament, Raghuvansh Prasad said that the bill for the purpose can not be moved on the basis of BJPs verbal support outside the

parliament.
