Ramoji plea denied by Hight Court E-mail
Hyderabad: The AP High Court on Thursday declined to stay the N. Rangachari commission probe into the affairs of Margadarsi Financiers headed by media baron Ramoji Rao The bench was not inclined to either issue notice to Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy or admit the writ as far he was concerned at this stage. The government of Andhra Pradesh and Dr Rajasekhar Reddy are respondents in the writ. The petition had challenged government orders 800 and 801 of December 19 last, appointing Mr N. Rangachari, adviser to government, finance, to probe the affairs of Margadarsi Financiers and Mr Ramoji Rao and appointing CID inspector-general Krishnam Raju to file applications in courts. The petition attributed malafides and motives to the Chief Minister and to the government orders appointing the officers. The petitioners contended that the action of the government was linked to the publication of certain news items in the media run by Mr Ramoji Rao. The bench in its order did not find any nexus between the collection of deposits and running newspapers. The bench declared that at the present stage there was no case made out against Dr Rajasekhar Reddy. The bench observed that having collected Rs 2,300 crores as deposits, it was not proper to raise objections to an enquiry
