It was time universities related themselves to things happening globally. The sweeping changes taking place in the wake of IT revolution and globalisation necessitated this, said Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Mohd. Suleman Siddiqi. He was speaking after giving away Andhra Pradesh Scientist awards on the occasion of the National Science Day at the University College of Science here on Wednesday. The programme was organised by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Science and Technology (APCOST).
Minister for Science and Technology S. Vijaya Rama Raju, who was to be the chief guest, did not turn up. So were Asaduddin Owaisi, Anjan Kumar Yadav, V. Hanumantha Rao, P. Madhu, Azeez Pasha (MPs), Devender Goud and Nayani Narasimha Reddy, MLAs. Osmania University had established an industry house and was trying to keep pace with the changing scenario, Prof. Siddiqi said. Congratulating the award winners, he said their dedication and hard work had paid off. He hoped their achievement would inspire youngsters. APCOST also planned to set up Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Creativity. K. Veera Reddy, principal, University College of Science, hoped the scientists would sustain the good work they were doing.
